Свидание назначают близким – друзьям и знакомым. Это просто условленность (plan) о встрече, необязательная «стрелка».

На встречу (appointment) можно записываться у врача (особенно зубного) и по делу (с предпринимателем). Здесь важно точно расписать день и время.
to keep an appointment — прийти на свидание
to make / set up an appointment with smb. — договориться о встрече
to book an appointment with a doctor — записаться на приём к врачу
I shall break an appointment — Я не пойду на свидание
Бронирование
Места бронируют в театре, самолёте, поезде, ресторане и на другие популярные мероприятия.
advance reservation — предварительный заказ
hotel / motel reservation — предзаказ гостиницы/мотеля
to reserve a table – заказывать столик
to reserve a seat – бронировать место
to make a reservation — забронировать
to cancel a reservation — отменить предзаказ
to confirm a reservation — подтверждать предзаказ
We made a reservation at a very good hotel — Мы забронировали места в очень хорошей гостинице
I’d like to make a reservation – Я бы хотел сделать бронь
English Joke
An old, tired-looking dog wandered into the yard. I could tell from his collar and well-fed belly that he had a home.
He followed me into the house, down the hall, and fell asleep on the couch. An hour later, he went to the door, and I let him out. The next day he was back, resumed his position on the couch and slept for an hour. This continued for several weeks. Curious, I pinned a note to his collar: ‘Every afternoon your dog comes to my house for a nap.’
The next day he arrived with a different note pinned to his collar: ‘He lives in a home with four children – he’s trying to catch up on his sleep. Can I come with him tomorrow?’
